AWKWARD...Our Guest Speaker

So this weeks blog suggestion asked us to ta ke a pic of the guest, now write something about his/her appearance....Awkward.. I didn't take a picture :( lol
But anyways this guest speaker was totally awesome He was so funny and I was not expecting him to be so humorous and down to earth considering how high up of a job he has with the news company here in Hawaii. I learned a lot from him though and I definitely enjoyed his talks and all of the advice that he had to offer our class. He was a nice guy and hopefully I get the pleasure of talking to him again.

Analysis of Sports Commentators

I actually really enjoyed this analysis because I am really into watching sports. I liked how Gitlin touched on commentating done on Jackie Robinson as well. While reading this I just kept thinking of the Dodgers current sports commentator Vin Scully who has been commentating for the Dodgers for such a long time and is the pride and joy of LA. But it was interesting that he even did an analysis on sports commentating. He is definitely accurate though, because if you don't have a commentator that can hype of the crowd watching from home, then you may as well not have a commentator at all.

My Favorite Crime Drama... That's EASY

My personal guilty pleasure is Criminal Minds. I have probably watched every episode ever of this show. It's so intense and I always try and figure out who the person that committed the crime was before they even reveal it. Sometimes however the show isn't too realistic but whatever I don't mind it at all. I think the criminal economy is scary in reality though. There are some people in the world that are completely ruthless and that thought alone scares me.

Newton Minow’s Speech

To be honest, I think that Newton Minow's speech isn't too relevant anymore. Today, when things are broadcasted nothing really gets too censored like it would have it it were back in Newton Minow's time. It seems like the media gets away with a lot now, and maybe for the rerun something that was inappropriate may get cut out. But there are so many things that sometimes I even find inappropriate to be shown or said on cable television without being blanked out. I think that Minow delivered a great speech though, because I personally don't think that media really has to be that uptight.
