My Final Paper

Okay so to be completely honest I am a complete nerd because I actually really enjoyed writing my final paper lol. I wrote my paper on the television show The Walking Dead (which is obviously my favorite show EVER lol). I did an analysis on it and it helped me notice a lot of things about the show that I probably would have never before even taken notice too such as the set and music and camera angles being used. I also analyzed the content of the show even more than I would have before. It also gave me an excuse to recap on all 4 seasons on Netflix...So thank you for that Professor Britos :) hahahah

AWKWARD...Our Guest Speaker

So this weeks blog suggestion asked us to ta ke a pic of the guest, now write something about his/her appearance....Awkward.. I didn't take a picture :( lol
But anyways this guest speaker was totally awesome He was so funny and I was not expecting him to be so humorous and down to earth considering how high up of a job he has with the news company here in Hawaii. I learned a lot from him though and I definitely enjoyed his talks and all of the advice that he had to offer our class. He was a nice guy and hopefully I get the pleasure of talking to him again.

Analysis of Sports Commentators

I actually really enjoyed this analysis because I am really into watching sports. I liked how Gitlin touched on commentating done on Jackie Robinson as well. While reading this I just kept thinking of the Dodgers current sports commentator Vin Scully who has been commentating for the Dodgers for such a long time and is the pride and joy of LA. But it was interesting that he even did an analysis on sports commentating. He is definitely accurate though, because if you don't have a commentator that can hype of the crowd watching from home, then you may as well not have a commentator at all.

My Favorite Crime Drama... That's EASY

My personal guilty pleasure is Criminal Minds. I have probably watched every episode ever of this show. It's so intense and I always try and figure out who the person that committed the crime was before they even reveal it. Sometimes however the show isn't too realistic but whatever I don't mind it at all. I think the criminal economy is scary in reality though. There are some people in the world that are completely ruthless and that thought alone scares me.

Newton Minow’s Speech

To be honest, I think that Newton Minow's speech isn't too relevant anymore. Today, when things are broadcasted nothing really gets too censored like it would have it it were back in Newton Minow's time. It seems like the media gets away with a lot now, and maybe for the rerun something that was inappropriate may get cut out. But there are so many things that sometimes I even find inappropriate to be shown or said on cable television without being blanked out. I think that Minow delivered a great speech though, because I personally don't think that media really has to be that uptight.

BIGGEST BASEBALL FAN EVER

What am I fan of?  That's so easy. BASEBALL. I am the biggest baseball fan ever, it's almost creepy. My favorite team is the Los Angeles Dodgers. Back home I go to almost every home game so it killed me this season when I couldn't be there to attend, however I did stream every game online on my phone and laptop! lol I have always been a huge baseball fan, I guess it sort of just runs in my family because we are all baseball fans lol.

Early Electronic Media

So am I the only one that still has my first cell phone? Crazy and funny to look back at that piece of crap that I used to love so much! haha But that was no more than 5 years ago, crazy how mew technology develops that fast huh? I have to hand it to all these inventors and innovators because they are developing new technology faster than we can get our hands on it. I can only imagine what the new cell phones laptops and tablets will look like when I have children of my own. I always think "I don't know how they can possibly make this any better" everytime a new phone comes out. I can not wait to see what the future holds for our constantly developing technology!

The Thing We Like to Call... The INTERNET

The internet has been around for some years now, and it's crazy to think about how fast it has taken off. I remember when I was just starting high school and I would have to beg my mom to let me use the internet because the dial up connection would disconnect the home phone line LOL. Not to mention how extremely slow it was. Today we have lightening speeds and internet access is capable on almost any device you can think of. I think the internet is only going to get better from here. We already have access to it in our finger tips with our smartphones. The internet has already outsourced many things such as the newspaper and books. From here on out, I think we are just going to start depending more and more on the internet.

LOL I'm so sorry but the fact that people got so mad at Welles is hilarious to me! Come on people don't be so uptight first of all, and second of all don't be so gullible! hahaha I know the time frame was different and no one would probably ever believe that today, but come on it was not something to get mad over, it is funny now that I think of it. But Welles did scare the crap out of some people. At least he didn't do something to completely scare the crap out of people like the whole balloon boys parents did in the past few years. Anyways I tip my hat to Welles!

Advances in Technology and Social Media

Reading this Web Squared article is tripping me out! Crazy to think that just a few years ago we thought we had some cool gadgets to use online on cool websites when really our technology wasn't capable of half of what it is now. Imagine 5 years from now how crazy everything will be. Our generation is so caught up online and all over social media it's literally SCARY!

This Weeks Blog

So since I have already blogged about my reaction to Magnum PI last week, this week I'll just rant about what I think of this class so far. lol
Okay so I am actually finding everything really interesting, which is surprising because I hate watching television I only do it when I am extremely bored. And our professor is cool too which I am so thankful for lol. Anyways this class is cool and I am glad that it's not one of those classes that I dread (like the class I have before this -.- lol) Have a nice day class :)

Magnum PI

To be honest, when we started watching Magnum PI in class I was like great just some old lame show...But after watching it in class I went home and watched another episode online! lol Probably lame of me, but I actually really enjoy this show, even if at times it was cheesy. I am really into Criminal Minds and shows like that where things are being investigated...But I've already watched almost every episode from that television series, so it was nice to watch a show I've never seen before! And some of the cheesy parts gave me a good laugh! :-)

Hey Guys! sorry this is so late I never blogged before this class because it's way too hard so I am totally confused using this site! :(
But anyways I am a 20 year old business management major ( a few credits shy of the "junior" label) and it's my first year here in Hawaii. I transferred over from a junior college in Southern California (which is where I'm from). But the basics all you need to know about me: I LOVE baseball (HUGE Dodger fan, I need to emphasize the HUGE), I love to play sports, and I love the beach! (explaining why I moved here) But I'm super outgoing and I've probably already talked to a majority of you! lol But there that is :-) See ya'll in class

What Media I Like to Use

To be honest, I use all types of Media. For instance, I am ALWAYS on my phone, sadly. And a computer or laptop is essential in my everyday activities whether I'm at work or at home using it for my own personal use. I also love taking photographs on my Nikon, but to be 100% honest, I never really print the pictures out, except on occasion. Weird huh? I also watch some television, but not too much ever since I moved out here to Hawaii. I love instagramming and tweeting though, those are my gulty pleasures!
